Thailand and Singapore have emerged as popular travel destinations for Chinese tourists, according to industry expert Sun. Both countries offer free visas to Chinese visitors and have seen a significant recovery in flight capacity. As the world’s largest source of outbound tourism, China’s resurgence is crucial for the global travel sector. However, Chinese travelers have shown a preference for domestic travel and local experiences, indicating hesitance towards expensive overseas trips. Various obstacles, including lengthy visa application processes and limited flight capacities, have hindered the recovery of long-haul international travel, particularly to Europe and the US. Despite these challenges, the number of searches for trips has already surpassed 2019 levels, indicating a growing interest in travel among the Chinese population.
