UAE nationals and residents will soon have the convenience of submitting their biometrics, renewing their passports, and processing Emirates IDs 24×7. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) is working on a model project that will allow people to instantly renew their passports and Emirates IDs through kiosks. If successful, these kiosks will be set up at prime locations such as airports and malls across the country.

In a display at the Gitex Global event, the federal body showcased a kiosk that visitors could experience. Gitex is the world’s largest gathering of technology companies, with thousands of public and private sector companies showcasing their latest innovations.

Initially, the kiosks will allow residents and visitors to submit their biometrics without needing appointments at ICP service centers. This will eliminate the need for appointments and make the process available 24/7. Additionally, the kiosks will have a printer connected to them, enabling people to print their Emirates IDs and visas on the spot. The kiosks will also be able to print passports for UAE nationals and visas for visitors.

Foreign visitors will also be able to use the kiosks to submit their biometrics for SIM card registration. The kiosks will capture fingerprints, signatures, and photos.

The project is currently in progress and could be rolled out in 2023 or 2024 once the trials are successfully completed.
