Dubai Municipality Introduces Self-Driven Electric Vehicle for Cleaning Beach Cycling Tracks
Dubai, October 25, 2023 – The Dubai Municipality is set to automate the cleaning of cycling tracks around the city’s beaches with the introduction of a new self-driven electric cleaning vehicle. The announcement was made by the Dubai Municipality via X (former Twitter), where they shared details of this new project aimed at maintaining the cleanliness of Dubai’s beaches.
According to the post, the self-driving electric vehicle will be used to clean the cycling paths along Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim beaches. This initiative is part of the Dubai Municipality’s strategic efforts to effectively manage waste and preserve the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of all facilities and tourist destinations in Dubai.
In their commitment to reducing environmental pollution and carbon emissions, the Dubai Municipality is harnessing the power of the latest technologies, including automated and electric vehicles. The new cleaning vehicle is equipped with rotary cleaning brushes in the front and operates without the need for a driver to control its movements.
Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with sensors that can detect passersby crossing the roads and automatically apply brakes to avoid collisions. This ensures the safety of pedestrians and cyclists using the tracks. With its efficient performance and high productivity compared to manual labor, the driverless cleaning vehicle has the capability to operate continuously for 8 hours on a single charge.
Notably, the vehicle is also eco-friendly, aligning with Dubai’s commitment to sustainability. It can operate at an average speed of 40kmph in normal mode, making it an efficient and effective solution for maintaining the cleanliness of Dubai’s beach cycling tracks.
The introduction of the self-driven electric cleaning vehicle marks a significant milestone in Dubai’s efforts towards utilizing advanced technologies to enhance its waste management and cleanliness practices. As the city continues to prioritize sustainability, this initiative sets a precedent for other cities to follow in embracing autonomous and eco-friendly solutions.
