Hyundai UAE is set to introduce the region’s first smart taxis, equipped with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology and a range of chic features. The Hyundai AI Smart Taxi, a Sonata hybrid car, was unveiled at the Abu Dhabi Smart City Summit and will be rolled out in the next two months. Hyundai UAE is currently in discussions with public and private operators, including the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in Abu Dhabi and the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai. The introduction of smart taxis is expected to revolutionize AI, safety, and security in the UAE.
The smart taxis will incorporate several innovative features, including an interior monitor system with AI-equipped cameras. These cameras will monitor the driver’s level of alertness, reaction time, and other safety indicators to ensure passenger safety and prevent accidents. The facial recognition feature will also help identify any unsafe situations, such as a driver falling asleep.
One of the standout features of the smart taxi is its lost-and-found system. This system can identify items left behind by passengers and immediately alert the taxi company’s control center. The driver will be notified before the passenger disembarks, allowing them to quickly return the item to the passenger. This feature is the first of its kind globally.
In addition to these safety features, the smart taxi also offers a range of services for passengers. There are two interactive screens that provide details about the trip, tourist destinations, and information about the driver. The vehicle’s technical equipment allows for the collection of live data for remote monitoring and enables appropriate measures to be taken if necessary. The smart taxi also has a control and monitoring panel to track drivers’ work and ensure efficient operation.
Suliman Al Zaben, director of Hyundai UAE, expressed excitement about the launch of the smart taxis, calling it a milestone for Juma Al Majid Establishment, the exclusive distributor of Hyundai cars in the UAE. He emphasized that the smart taxi aligns with the UAE’s smart mobility vision for the future and will be launched nationwide.
The arrival of the region’s first smart taxis marks a significant step forward in AI technology and transportation in the UAE. With its advanced features and focus on safety and security, the Hyundai AI Smart Taxi is poised to revolutionize the taxi industry and provide passengers with a seamless and innovative transportation experience.
