Apple unveiled its new MacBook Pro and iMac computers, as well as three new chips to power them, at an online event targeting professional users. The company announced that it had redesigned its graphics processing units (GPU), an area where Nvidia currently dominates the market. The new computers and M3 chips are available for pre-order in the UAE and will be released on November 7. The 14-inch MacBook Pro laptops start at Dh6,899 and go up to Dh13,539, while the 16-inch models range from Dh10,499 to Dh16,799. The new iMac desktop with the M3 family of chips starts at Dh5,499 and goes up to Dh7,179. Apple also mentioned that monthly instalments are available. The tech giant has been growing its market share in the Mac business, reaching nearly 11% since 2020 when it began using its own custom-designed chips. Apple’s chips have provided better battery life and performance compared to Windows machines. The company also introduced a secure screen sharing feature and highlighted the performance improvements of its new devices compared to older models. Qualcomm and Nvidia have announced plans to compete in the market with their own Arm-based chips.
