Dubai Residents Light Up the City in Celebration of Diwali

Dubai, UAE – Residents across the city are coming together to spread joy and celebrate the festival of Diwali by adorning their balconies with colourful lights and creating beautiful rangolis at their doorsteps. Many neighbourhoods in Dubai, such as Al Mankhool, Bur Dubai, Karama, and Al Barsha, have been transformed into twinkling displays of colourful lighting as residents embrace the festive season.

Aparna Yadav, a resident of Mankhool, expressed her excitement, stating, “We have decorated our home with lights all over. This is the time of the year our home turns into a vibrant, colourful place.”

Taking part in the festivities, the Indian Women in Dubai group organized pre-Diwali celebrations, bringing together many ladies from India, and creating a sense of family within the Dubai community.

Entrepreneur and mother, Shalini Ruben, described the magic of Diwali in Dubai, saying, “The city’s vibrant spirit, accompanied by fireworks, cultural performances, and heartwarming family gatherings, makes it truly special for us.”

Several households have also embraced the tradition of creating rangoli art, adding an extra layer of beauty to the festive decorations. As families gear up for the coming week of Diwali celebrations, they are excited to host friends in traditional attire and embrace the warmth of togetherness, delightful food, and shared festivities.

Long-time residents, Seema Mistry and Vrushali Zagade, have decorated their homes with colourful lights, sharing the joy of the festival with their community.

Dr. Supriya Chauhan, a dentist, expressed her love for Diwali and the special experience of celebrating with her family, saying, “Thanks to the hassle-free and easy visa procedures of the UAE, our parents are here to celebrate with us. It’s a privilege to stay in Dubai, which is so welcoming and diverse.”
