The UAE has implemented various initiatives and laws to make travel and life easier for people of determination. Specifically, Dubai’s RTA has introduced services and features to meet the needs of this segment of society, emphasizing that the requirements of people of determination are part of the authority’s plans and services. The RTA offers several services and features for the people of determination, including the Specialised Nol card, tactile paths, designated wheelchair spaces in Metro compartments, accessible toilets, and screen and audio announcements for the hearing and visually impaired.

The RTA also provides special access and designated wheelchair spaces on buses, air-conditioned shelters at bus stops, and dedicated staff at marinas to assist people of determination. Taxis equipped with wheelchairs, lifts, companion seats, and artificial respiratory systems operate 24/7, driven by specially trained drivers. The RTA also offers free Salik on roads, adjusted pavement heights, and dedicated parking permits, which were digitized in August 2023.

In addition, the RTA provides licensing for modified vehicles, detailing the necessary accessories and companies that offer these fittings. Vehicles modified for people of determination are tested and officially endorsed, ensuring their accessibility and safety.
