Residents in the UAE are being reminded to follow the proper procedure when hiring domestic workers, avoiding unauthorised agencies that can lead to legal and health risks. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) has issued a list of 103 approved and licensed domestic workers’ offices in order to ensure the reliability of agencies. The UAE’s domestic workers law is in place to regulate the recruitment process and eliminate unfair practices, with fines of up to Dh1 million for violations. This includes engaging in mediation or temporary employment without a license, submitting false information, and violating any provisions of the law. Penalties can also be doubled if a violation occurs within a year of being found guilty. The legislation aims to protect the rights of domestic workers and ensure that both employers and employees fulfill their obligations. It is important for residents to be aware of these regulations in order to protect themselves and avoid potential legal consequences.
