Abu Dhabi authorities have recently unveiled a new call centre number, 800-444, to address social cases and provide support for individuals and families. The Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi (DCD) and the Family Care Authority (FCA) collaborated to introduce this hotline, which aims to tackle issues such as family disputes, bullying, and challenges faced by vulnerable groups, including children.

Dr Bushra Al Mulla, the director-general of the FCA, highlighted the importance of this direct contact number as a means to cater to the community’s needs. She emphasized that the FCA’s mission is to offer comprehensive services to family-care beneficiaries and empower socially vulnerable families, children, and youth by working in coordination with various social entities. The range of services provided by the FCA includes social and psychological counseling, caregiver support, emergency assistance, and temporary shelter.

The call centre number, 800-444, is open to all individuals and families in Abu Dhabi, including citizens, expatriates, and visitors. They can report social cases and request support through this hotline. To raise awareness about the FCA’s services, an interactive session was organized at the lively waterfront destination of Al Qana. This session featured a hi-tech digital booth that allowed community members of all ages to explore different scenarios related to social challenges like bullying, dysfunctional family situations, mental health issues, and emotional abuse.

Through this digital platform, individuals could familiarize themselves with the wide-ranging family-centric solutions provided by the FCA and interact with staff to acquire more information. The event was attended by prominent officials, including engineer Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the DCD, and Dr Al Mulla. Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, chairman of the DCD, emphasized the leadership’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a high quality of life for citizens and expatriate families.

Dr Al Khaili stressed that families are the foundation of society and a pillar of sustainable development, which prompted the creation of the Abu Dhabi Family Wellbeing Strategy. This strategy comprises various initiatives and programs designed to address the needs of youth, families, and the elderly. It will be implemented in collaboration with esteemed partners and will also provide support to young individuals preparing for marriage by equipping them with the necessary skills to establish successful families.
