Residents in Dubai no longer need to physically visit Amer centres to process their residency visa or renew Emirates ID. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) – Dubai has introduced the Virtual Amer Service, which allows residents to complete these processes remotely through video conferencing services.

During the Gitex Global 2023 exhibition, GDRFA showcased the user-friendly technology behind the Virtual Amer Service. This virtual service allows applicants to connect with a real officer in real-time, eliminating the need for physical presence and allowing for immediate resolution of any issues.

Unlike chatbot services that mimic human conversation, the Virtual Amer Service is conducted by actual officers, ensuring a more effective and efficient process for customers. The service is especially helpful for cases where incomplete or unclear documents are discovered, allowing applicants to provide the necessary documents through the chat box.

The Virtual Amer Service covers various visa processes, including residency, student, visit, golden, and green visas. It aims to reduce transaction time and simplify the overall process for customers.

Since its initial introduction in the first quarter of 2023, the Virtual Amer Service has successfully processed 250,000 transactions within the first two months. Currently, the service is available on weekdays from 7am to 7pm, but GDRFA has plans to expand its availability to 24/7.

In addition to the Virtual Amer Service, customers can also reach out to the Amer call centre on the toll-free number 8005111, which operates round the clock.

This innovative virtual service provided by GDRFA is a significant step towards enhancing convenience and efficiency in government processes, ultimately benefiting residents in Dubai. Stay up to date with the latest news by following KT on WhatsApp Channels.
