Consumer Demand for Digital Applications Soars in UAE

According to a recent survey, a staggering 97% of consumers in the UAE have faced performance issues when using digital applications in the past year. This alarming statistic was revealed in Cisco’s App Attention Index, a global study that examined the digital behavior of over 15,000 consumers, including 1,005 in the UAE. The study highlighted the increasing pressure on brand owners to optimize application performance and security due to escalating consumer expectations for digital experiences.

During the pandemic, the use of digital services and applications reached unprecedented levels, and consumer demand for applications has continued to rise. The study found that 71% of consumers in the UAE now have much higher expectations for digital experiences compared to two years ago. Additionally, 74% of consumers expect brands to deliver exceptional digital experiences as a standard.

The survey also identified UAE consumers as the most selective when it comes to the applications they use, and they are more conscious of the time spent engaging with digital services. They are less forgiving of brands when problems occur and are keen to get rid of applications that don’t meet their expectations.

The report also highlighted the rise of a new cohort of application users, referred to as “The Application Generation” aged 18-34. This group has relied on applications to navigate the pandemic and live in a hybrid world. They use more applications monthly than older age groups and are more discerning about the quality of the applications they use.

As a result, brands are advised to invest in their application experiences to avoid losing customers. Ronak Desai, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cisco Full-Stack Observability and AppDynamics, emphasized the importance of meeting consumer expectations for digital experiences.

It is evident from the survey that consumer expectations for digital experiences are at an all-time high, and brands must prioritize optimizing their application performance to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
