Telegram is ending 2021 with a bang as it introduces a variety of new features for Android and iOS platforms. According to GSM Arena, the app now includes ‘Reactions’, a feature similar to Facebook Messenger’s reaction emojis. On iOS, users press and hold to access the reaction emoji picker, while on Android, they simply tap once.
The app also allows users to send a quick thumbs-up reaction by double-tapping a message. In addition, users can customize the default double-tap reaction in the app’s settings. Reactions are enabled by default in private chats, while admins have the option to turn them on or off in groups and channels, as well as choose which reaction emojis are available.
A new ‘Spoiler’ formatting feature has been added, allowing users to hide spoilers by marking specific parts of a message. To reveal the hidden text, users can simply tap on the spoiler. Furthermore, a dedicated translate button can now be added to the context menu when selecting a message, and is compatible with all Android devices and iOS 15+ on Apple devices. The available languages depend on the user’s phone software.
Users can also customize the QR code for their profile or someone else’s by choosing colors and patterns. Additionally, new interactive versions of some emojis are available, such as the snowflake which makes it snow on the screen when sent. These interactive versions are only available in 1-on-1 chats.
Lastly, the app has introduced newly redesigned context menus on macOS with animated icons. With these latest updates, Telegram continues to enhance the user experience and provide innovative features for its growing user base.
